The fourth series of First Friday Concerts at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1000 Michigan Ave., La Porte, will begin Sept. 5 at 12:10 p.m.

The 2025-26 series will kick off with Lee Knitter, who has been a musician for 30 years. His focus is bringing the Gospel to the community through music, singing and playing acoustic guitar. He primarily sings gospel music at assisted living, nursing homes and rehab facilities. He also performs country and folk music.

He was on the worship team at La Porte Missionary Church for 16 years and is retired after spending 43 years at Burns Harbor steel mill.

St. Paul's is air-conditioned and there is a handicap-accessible entrance on Harrison Street. There is no charge for the performance, but there is a free-will offering box for donations to sustain the series. Concert-goers are enccouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy the music.

Update - There is NO community meal this Tuesday, 9/2. If we can get the flooring installed, we hope to resume this ministry with our 10/7 meal. Thank you for your continued patience. It's been an ordeal!

Due to extensive storm damage to our parish hall from the June 26/27th storm, Community Dinners have been canceled until further notice. We appreciate your patience and your prayers as we remediate the damage, determine next steps, and restore our space to the safe, welcoming environment it was previously. We’ll be sure to inform you when we can resume.

Worship with us!

Welcome! I’m Mother Michelle Walker, Priest-in-Charge of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. We are blessed as a community to have been worshiping here in LaPorte since July 25, 1839! We are a church steeped in history and full of love for our Lord and our community.

Our Sunday morning 9 a.m. worship services consist of rich music, traditional liturgy, and a service that is joyful and reverent. We love to laugh and have fun while simultaneously worshiping our Lord. We hope you’ll venture in for a service and bask in the glory of our magnificent stained-glass windows.

If in-person worship doesn’t work for you for any reason, you are always welcome to join us at St. Paul’s Facebook for a LIVE from St. Paul’s streamed service. Our Sunday mornings begin at 8:50 a.m. with a beautiful organ prelude and continue at 9 a.m. for the Holy Eucharist. We welcome worshippers in whichever manner is best for them, in-person or livestream.

We also offer a weekly Thursday 9 a.m. Morning Prayer (St. Paul’s Facebook) & Bible Study. Stay tuned here for future updates. Blessings to you. You are in our prayers.

In abundant gratitude,
Mother Michelle Walker
