The 2024-25 First Friday Concert series will begin Friday, Sept. 6, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1000 Michigan Ave., La Porte.
The concerts are from 12:10 to 12:40 p.m. the first Fridays of the month through May, 2025. St. Paul's revived the series that previously was held in the chapel of La Porte Hospital.
The first musician will be Lee Knitter, a musician for 30 years. He focuses on bringing the Gospel to the community through music, singing and playing acoustic guitar. He primarily sings Gospel music at assisted living, nursing homes and rehab facilities and also performs Country and Folk music. He was on the worship team at La Porte Missionary Church for 16 years and is now retired after spending 43 years at Burns Harbor steel mill.
There is no charge for the concerts, but a free-will offering box is available. The audience is encouraged to bring their lunch. The property is air-conditioned and accessible to the physically challenged through the door on Harrison Street.
